Theatre
As an actor, Chris shows the versatility that stretches from Shakespeare to musical theater. He was active in the Black gay and lesbian arts scene in Washington DC since the 80s and has collaborated with Michelle Parkerson and Essex Hemphill, Alan Sharpe’s African American Collective Theater, Terry Sidney’s Emerald City Productions and many others. Most notably, he appears on the soundtrack of Marlon Riggs’s groundbreaking documentary Tongues Untied. , Chris is one of the voices of the now-iconic “Brother to Brother” choral sequence in that award-winning documentary. His solo performances are a non-linear mixture of music, poetry, and character-driven monologues that address self-actualization and identity.
